DIY Hire Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all — no experience required! Just follow our included instruction manual and you'll be up and running in minutes. The QuantumX system is designed so anyone can pick it up and start a game with just a couple of button presses. If you get stuck, we're just a message away.

Heaps! The QuantumX system supports everything from simple free-for-all and team battles through to advanced modes like Battle Royale, Zombie Infection, and Vampire-style games — complete with shields, strikes, and power-ups. Whether you're running a casual backyard battle or a full structured event, there's a game mode for every mission.

Each package supports one player per gun, so 8, 16, or 24 players at a time depending on your package. Players can rotate in between games if you have a larger group.

All pickups and returns are from our base at Sydney Olympic Park, NSW. The exact address is provided after your booking is confirmed.

Not at this stage — all hires are pick-up only from Sydney Olympic Park. It's a straightforward collection and the gear packs down neatly, so it fits easily into most cars.

Your hire period starts at your scheduled pickup time and ends exactly 24 hours later. For example, if you pick up at 10am Tuesday, the gear is due back by 10am Wednesday. Returns after your scheduled time may incur an additional day's charge.

This is the real deal. Our QuantumX system is commercial-grade laser tag equipment — the same gear we use for our professionally hosted events. It's built for frequent, high-intensity play by large groups, and delivers a genuine laser skirmish experience rather than a backyard toy feel.

Typically 6–8 hours of play per charge. We include chargers with every hire so you can top the guns back up during your event if needed. Just note that you must only use our provided chargers — other chargers can damage the equipment.

The guns are water resistant and can handle a light drizzle without any issues. During heavy rain, we recommend moving undercover or pausing play until conditions improve. The equipment should never be submerged in water.

Very tough — it's commercial-grade and built for heavy use. That said, it's not indestructible. Gear damaged through overly rough play or deliberate misuse is the hirer's responsibility, which is why we hold a security bond. Treat it like you'd treat borrowed gear from a mate and you'll have no issues.

Not at this stage. The guns are packed and configured in sets of 8, so packages come in multiples of 8. The Squad (8), Platoon (16), and Battalion (24) packages cover most group sizes nicely.

Very manageable! The guns pack 8 per box into a case of roughly 50cm × 30cm × 30cm. Even the Battalion Package (24 guns) only takes up three boxes — most standard hatchbacks and SUVs handle it with no dramas.

The QuantumX system pairs with the free QuantumX Controller app (iOS only) to give you an interactive scoreboard experience — players can see live scores and end-of-game results on a big screen. It's not required to play, but it absolutely levels up the experience, especially for competitive groups or bigger events.

If you don't have an iPad you can use - you can rent one from us. 

Unfortunately not — the QuantumX Controller app is iOS only (iPhone or iPad). If you don't have an Apple device, you can hire an iPad from us for $200 per 24-hour period.

A $1,500 refundable bond is required before pickup. We'll be in touch a couple of days before your hire to arrange payment, which can be made by credit card (pre-auth) or bank transfer. The bond is returned in full once all equipment is back safe and sound.

We'll contact you a couple of days before your scheduled pickup to sort out bond payment and confirm any last details for your mission.

Keen to keep the battle going? Get in touch with us as early as possible and we'll do our best to accommodate an extension, subject to availability. Extension pricing is charged per additional 24-hour period.

While we generally try to be flexible with customers wanting to move their booking, this is at our team's discretion. If you want to move your booking, let us know as far in advance as possible. 

If you cancel outright, you void your $150 if more than 7 days prior to your event, or the full balance if less than 7 days before your event.

Not for our DIY Hire. If you need public liability insurance coverage, we recommend checking out our standard hosted packages (which are covered) or consider taking out your own policy. 

As our team are not running the session, and we do not have control over the operation, our $20 million public liability insurance doesn't apply for this type. 

Our equipment is commercial-grade and designed for heavy use. But it still needs to be treated with respect.

We won't charge you for any issues caused by regular wear and tear. However if equipment is used in a reckless or extra rough way, the hirer is responsible for repair or replacement cost, as per our terms and conditions. 

If this doesn't work for you, we recommend switching to our hosted packages, where we can ensure safe operation ourselves.
