What to do if you want to hold a kids party in a council park or venue in Sydney
July 2026 | Joshua Brooks So you're looking to hold a Laser Tag party in a council park or hall in Sydney. Here's what you need to know!
General Rules of Thumb
As a general rule, holding laser tag parties in a council park isn't an issue. After all, that is what they are there for!
But here's a couple golden rules: 1. Always double-check it's okay with the council (give them a call usually) 2. Try to stay out of the way of other parties and events
What the Council Might Ask For
The council might ask you for our insurance or risk management procedure, which we have and you can download here.
They might also be asked to be named on the certificate of currency, which we have already done for all councils in the greater Sydney area, which you download here.
If the council asks about what will be set up, if you don't have bunkers, nothing will be set up (we just arrive with a suitcase). And if you're hiring inflatable bunkers, we recommend emphasising that they are small inflatables (about a meter wide) that don't impact other users or the park or damage the property. I.e. it's not a large jumping castle that would inconvenience other users of the park.
